A Message From the Housing Authority Concerning Covid-19 and Business Procedures to be Followed During this Crisis

The Plainfield Housing Authority has a Board of Commissioners, which consists of 5 Plainfield residents who volunteer their time for the committee. The Housing Authority Commission holds its monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Sunny Acres.

The Plainfield Housing Authority's Elderly site, Sunny Acres, is located at 41 Sunny Acres Moosup, CT 06354. The waiting list is currently open and an application may be obtained at the site or via mail by leaving a message at 860-963-6829 ext. 261. Property Management may be reached by phone at 860-963-6829 ext. 261, via e-mail at info@putnamhousing.org  or at the management office located at 123 Laconia Avenue  in Putnam.

The following is information for Low Income Elderly and/or Handicapped Applicants: All information on the application will be kept confidential.

All applications must be signed by the applicants. Only elderly persons are eligible.  An elderly person means a person who is sixty-two years of age or older or a person who has been certified by the Social Security Board as being totally disabled under the Federal Social Security Act or certified by any other federal board or agency as being totally disabled. No 1-bedroom apartments will be leased for single occupancy unless there are no qualified double applicants on the waiting list or anticipated to be on the waiting list within a reasonable time.  All questions must be answered truthfully. Connecticut State Statue Section 8-46 Penalty for False Statement: Any person who makes a false statement concerning the income of the family for which application for admission to, or continued occupancy of housing projects is made, may be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than six months or both.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program's (or HUD) waiting list is currently closed. Applications for Section 8 can be obtained when the are vacancies at the Housing Authority located at the Plainfield Town Hall, 8 Community Avenue, Plainfield, CT. The Section 8 Administrator is Carol Mercier, she can be contacted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 860-230-3022 and will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have

The Plainfield Housing Authorities Section 8 Program income eligibility is as follows:

  • 1 person - $21,600-$36050
  • 2 people - $24,700-$41,200
  • 3 people - $27,800-$46,350
  • 4 people - $30,850-$51,450
  • 5 people - $33,350-$55,600
  • 6 people - $35,800-$59,700
